Elgin Pocket Watch
The Elgin pocket watch happens to be one of those that are really valuable among collectors of watches. Elgin watches in general are considered to be a significant part of American history in the sense that they are, historically speaking, the watches made by the company that is known to be the watch company of New America. The National Watch Company (currently known as the Elgin Watch Company) was set up in 1864, near the end of the Civil War. It is said that the Elgin Watch Company heralded the American transition from the Agricultural Society to an Industrial Power. Elgin is also responsible for a lot of the automatic winding wristwatches. That being said, the Elgin pocket watch serves to be valuable in the sense that it was exactly the type of watch that this historical company had made by the millions before they had moved on into the future and started creating.
Today, there is a limited run of authentic Elgin pocket watch that were specifically made by Elgin in that era (the Elgin brand watches that are being made and sold today are no longer watches of the “original” Elgin Watch Company; the rights to the name were sold in 1964) This is why the Elgin pocket watch from back then are far more valuable than Elgin pocket watches being manufactured now (though Elgin watches today are still known for various reasons).
This domain is dedicated to Elgin pocket watches.
